VINTAGE 2017

Ad Naturam - wooden box

The second edition of the Masciarelli Art Project 2022 featured the artist-designer Marcantonio, one of the leading figures on the international contemporary art scene, famous for his research that investigates the connection between man and nature.
After a period of residence at the Castello di Semivicoli, Marcantonio created the site-specific installation "Ad Naturam", made up of four hundred small golden installations in the shape of small living beings (plant and animal shoots present in the vineyard) that integrate perfectly in the magical atmosphere of the building with the precise intention of not affecting its strong identity and history.
In line with the installation, Marcantonio created the label of the limited edition of the Villa Gemma Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC Riserva 2017 in which the branches of the "Quercia di Gianni" are outlined, a secular tree symbol of the company positioned between the twenty-year Montepulciano vineyards in the Schiavone district in S. Martino sulla Marrucina. Marcantonio, inspired by the evocative place where Gianni Masciarelli loved to meditate and observe his vineyards, in fact wanted to portray for the label the majesty released by the plant, which envelops it as in an embrace with a unique atmosphere. A small golden ladybug – in continuity with the elements of the Ad Naturam installation – hangs over the label as if it had just delicately landed on the bottle.
