Montalcino (Siena)The Baroncini family (producers since 1489) arrived in Montalcino in 1998 from San Gimignano, after crossing the Etruscan lands of Tuscany where they own other vineyards.
The company philosophy aims to protect tradition and focuses on organic as well as on the valorization of all the excellences of Montalcino that are born in an extraordinary territory like that of the Val d'Orcia, a UNESCO heritage site. Poggio Il Castellare has forty hectares of land in total, seven of which are dedicated to organic vineyards, two to truffles, 3 hectares of woodland, rich in medicinal herbs, and the remaining part to arable land. At Poggio Il Castellare, the protection of biodiversity, an extraordinary and unique wealth of Montalcino, is at home.
